Who do we work with?
What Is Powder Coating?
And Why Does It Beat Paint?
Powder coating is a finishing process that applies a dry, electrostatically charged powder to a grounded metal surface. The powder sticks to the parts like a magnet. Once all parts are coated evenly, it goes into the batch oven to cure the powder at 400 degrees for 10 minutes. Once inside our Cardinal-certified curing oven, the powder melts and flows into a smooth, continuous coating. No runs. No drips. No sags.
The result? A finish that is harder, more flexible, more durable, and more environmentally friendly than traditional liquid paint. It resists chips, scratches, UV light, and chemical exposure far better than conventional coatings, and it comes in hundreds of colors, textures, and effects.
What Can Be Powder Coated?
There are a couple of limitations to be aware of. Parts that get extremely hot in use (like chrome exhaust pipes that “blue” from heat) may not be great candidates, as the powder cure temperature can’t exceed the working temperature of the part. We also can’t coat items with lead solder connections, such as radiators or heater cores, as the cure heat can soften the solder. Not sure if your project qualifies? Just give us a call. We’re happy to talk it through!
